Montessori Learning Lab

[Spec Piece]

Client: Montessori Learning Lab is a company that sells Montessori toys for children six months to four years of age.

Challenge/Need: A name that clearly communicates the type of toys offered (i.e., Montessori) and their unique value, as well as a logo that captures the toys’ natural construction and the idea of “fun and advanced learning.”

Solution: Pairing “Learning Lab” with “Montessori,” I was able to convey the toys’ focus on providing a diverse range of creative, collaborative, experiential and real-world learning experiences.

For the logo, a simple font with a wood-burned debossing effect mirrors the “natural material” construction of Montessori toys. And this icon was chosen very specifically because it illustrates several ideas:

  • Lightbulb: learning, thinking, imagination, problem-solving

  • Yellow light rays: active, hands-on, shining bright (intelligence)

  • Puzzle pieces: intentional and thoughtfully structured

  • Bright, saturated colors: rich, joyful, multifaceted learning

Blessed & Beautiful

Client: Blessed & Beautiful was an online store that sold Christian wall art, metal signs and a small selection of apparel. Targeting Christians in their 20s-50s, their aesthetic was modern and bold, and their tone was simple, friendly and uplifting.

Challenge/Need: A simple, bold logo with an element signifying the brand’s Christian foundation.

Solution: Using a strong and easy-to-read sans serif font, I situated the Christian cross between the two main letters (extra bold for impact) of the company’s name and included the full name in an understated line below the graphic.

Good. Clean. Fun.

Client: Good. Clean. Fun. (GCF) organizes sporting and other recreational activities for people and families wanting to have fun without alcohol, drugs/substances, profanity or other offensive behavior. While it’s a Christian-founded organization, all are welcome!

Challenge/Need: A simple, friendly and informative name, logo and tagline.

Solution: I came up with a name that was pithy yet aptly captured the purpose and sentiment of the organization, designed a bright, inviting logo—carefully choosing the colors representing each word to highlight their meaning and evoke the corresponding emotions—and wrote a descriptive tagline highlighting the three main aspects of GCF’s mission.
